It has been a while since our local group of food loving freinds have gotten together. I was happy today to kick off our meet ups again at a local restaurant.
Porkbelly’s Eatery & Catering Co.
American Dining With A Flare
565 S Main St, Cedar City, Utah
Plus a location in St. George, Utah at 1091 N Bluff #404
Lets start with some appetizers –
Spicy Caulifower – Bite-size pieces of breaded cauliflower with a kick of spice and big flavor. Drizzled with ranch dressing.
I know, some may say cauliflower?? Eww.. No, no, no. My recommendation is to give cauliflower a try. Nice, tender, wonderful mix of texture and flavors.
Corn Nuggets – Sweet corn nuggets battered and deep fried.
So, yes… I did try one. For the purpose of the post only… no enjoyment at all. Hah, just kidding. These are so sweet and yummy. If you like corn, these should be your go to appetizer. Sweet corn inside, a light batter crunchy outside.
Sriracha Shrimp – Breaded deep fried shrimp with sriracha sauce.
I love spice, I love shrimp, pair the two. Happiness! My Mom said this could just be an entire meal.. order a double batch and be done. Although, then we would miss out on all of the other great food.
Now for the main courses... We went for lunch, which has a wonderful selection. If you go for dinner they have specials thru the week and month of smoked meatloaf, smoked prime rib. And plenty of other options.
First up a poplular selection of the group-
B.L.T.A – Thick black pepper bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and Mayo on schiacciata bread.
I love a BLT, although adding avocado, yumm! And the bacon is really nice thick peices of bacon.
Next up, Chicken Fried Chicken, Breakfast style with egg, or sandwich. Either way, a wonderful selection of tender chicken paired how you like it.
Chicken Fried Chicken with Sweet Potaoto Fries and cream gravy. Don’t dismiss that biscuit in the back. WOW, fresh biscuit happiness there.
Chicken Fried Chicken Sandwich – Had to take the top off to show off all of this goodness. Fried chicken breast, topped with cheese, tomato and ranch dressing.
Next up, another chicken… Chicken Cordon Blue – Seasoned breaded chicken breast, shaved ham, Swiss cheese, mustard aioli, and lettuce on a grilled brioche bun.
Everything looks amazing on this sandwich.. although look at that bun. Can’t dismess fresh bread. This one paired with Funeral potatoes… warm cheesey potato happy.
And of course, what I went for…. Pulled Pork – I enjoy food.. I picked out my meal…well… maybe I shouldn’t say how far in advance I picked out my meal.
Jacked Up – Jalapeño slices, pepper jack cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce and South West sauce, all Jacked Up on top of your pork sandwich.
This of course is on the menu as a sandwich, although if you dont eat bread, they are more than happy to serve it without, so that is how I ordered mine, with a side of coleslaw. Tender pulled pork, mild spices and the fresh jalepeno added another layer of spice and crunch.
Lumber Jack – Sliced mushrooms, bacon, cheddar cheese, and horseradish sauce, all sittin’ pretty on top of your tri-tip sandwich.
This one also on the menu as a sandwich, today ordered without the bread.
This one will be my next one to try. Served with a side of tots, the other side options are funeral potatoes, sweet potato fries, seasonal veggies, bbq beans, mac salad, cole slaw, salad.
